International Journal of Sauna Studies (IJSS) – Meeting #1 MINUTES

Dear Sauna Friends,

It has been two months since the wonderful Sauna Congress at Kukkolaforsen. Hopefully everyone has been able to return to good saunas at home.

As many of you know, the first Business Meeting of the International Journal of Sauna Studies (IJSS) was held on the final day of the Congress. I am pleased to attach the minutes of this business meeting to all participants of the XVII International Sauna Congress.

It was a successful discussion, with representation from 9 countries. If all goes well, we will publish some papers from the Congress by early next year. We are also hoping to organise an IJSS research symposium in 2019, with the aim of developing standards for international sauna research.

As you will see in the document, IJSS_BusinessMeeting1_June2018_MINUTES.pdf
there is also a plan to create the International Sauna Research Network (ISRN). This will be a free mailing list to connect international sauna people who are interested in sauna research. More information about the ISRN and related plans will be announced in coming days.

The Svenska Bastuakademien will also circulate a summary of the first day from the Congress. This will be emailed shortly.

In the meantime, if anyone has further comment about the IJSS project, you are welcome to emailinfo@saunaresearch.org

Many thanks — and happy sweating to all!

Warm regards,
Jack Tsonis
